I don't believe that newspapers are dead yet. I think they've still got quite a bit of life in them, if they adapt to the changing times. Newspapers themselves need to build up their sites, make them very SEO friendly, and then start creating reasons for people to go to both the paper version and the digital version. If they would offer good promotions or discounts only located in the paper version (but advertised well in the digital version), I'm sure they would have more customers buying the paper.

I like the idea of using links on newspaper websites as a means of local marketing. The readers of most newspapers are a very targeted, local market, and would make prime candidates for some strong grass-roots and exposure type marketing strategies.

I’m amazed that people are having so much trouble getting local website listed on the search engines. I think it’s more of an obstacle to let your clients know that what they think for their keywords versus what should be used and what should be used for the local keywords is more of an issue and trying to get rank locally.

Newspaper is old school, its jurassic! But if newspaper uses SEO and feed the contents to the internet or any methods online, I'm sure it will be on top
